A Key Verse for Musicians

“Let your light so shine before men, that they see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” –Matthew 5:16

Matthew 5:16, in a paraphrased nutshell:

Jesus Christ lives within you. We practice diligently and meld our hard work with the composer’s work. We share our gift with the audience. The Light of Christ, absorbed in our time with God, shines through us, through our instruments, and through the music. Our performance reflects the Presence of God.

(Remember that no performance is perfect; we are human.)

The recognition and applause we receive belongs to God. Our purpose as musicians is to be a conduit to the Lord. Be thankful that He has given us gifts to share. Be thankful that His Presence is always with you. He has chosen you. For His glory.
